Mastering E-Bike Gear Shifting: Tips for Smooth Riding

Spread the love

This seems different across bikes, but I will give you the general run-down. You will definitely have various gears on your rear wheels- some e-bikes and hub engines have several front chains, but it’s not too common.

Those rear gears are controlled by a shiftted to the right of the handlebars. You can have a shiftted grip, shifted thumb, road lever, or trigger shifted to activate in the gears.

At The smallest cog is the tallest gear, Which you will want to use when traveling fast. That small gear moves the rear wheel further with each pedal rotation, which requires more pedal effort, but you will travel a longest distance.

At The biggest cog is the intimate oneand this lower gear Easier for pedals. When pedaling is hard or accelerated from a stop position, you will want to use these lower gears that require less effort, which helps you reach an effective cadence when the will become difficult.

The same logic applies to internally geared e-bike. You will see the numbers (high numbers for small gears, low numbers for large gears) and can orient yourself that way.
